Privacy policy

Play without sign-up: you don't need an account or your email to play the daily quiz. Pseudonymised technical identifiers may be processed to run the service, keep the leaderboards fair and prevent fraud.

Leaderboard, leagues and pools: if you take part, we store the nickname you choose (a pseudonym), your results (score, time, hits and, where applicable, your predictions with no economic value) and link them to a pseudonymised identifier for your device. We don't process your real name unless you type it as your nickname.

In your browser (localStorage): your streak, stats, language and dark mode are stored only on your device. They aren't sent automatically: they only reach our servers if you use features that require it (submitting your score to a public leaderboard or joining a league).

Advertising: CornerQuiz currently does NOT show ads or use advertising cookies, and we don't display any consent banner. If we introduce advertising in the future (e.g. Google AdSense), we'd ask for your consent via a consent management platform (CMP) and update this policy before enabling it.

Analytics: we use Cloudflare's aggregated web analytics, with no cookies and no identifiable personal data, to measure site usage and improve it.

Premium pass payments: if you buy the pass, payment is processed by Paddle as the legal seller (Merchant of Record), which handles your payment data. We never see or store your card details; we only receive the purchase confirmation.

We use only necessary cookies so the game works (e.g. Cloudflare's security cookie) and local storage in your browser (localStorage). We don't use advertising cookies. Full detail is in our Cookie policy (/en/cookies).

We use providers that process data on our behalf: Supabase (database, EU servers), Cloudflare (hosting and delivery) and Paddle (premium pass payments). We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Some providers may process data outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area (e.g. the US). In those cases, transfers rely on recognised mechanisms (adequacy decisions, including the Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses) to ensure an adequate level of protection.

We process data under the GDPR (EU) and the Swiss FADP (nLPD/revDSG), based on consent (advertising and non-necessary cookies), performance of a contract (pass purchase), legitimate interest (security, leaderboard integrity and fraud prevention) and legal obligations (invoicing).

We keep the leaderboard, leagues and pools while relevant to the competition (we prune old data); invoices for as long as tax law requires; technical logs for up to 90 days.

CornerQuiz is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

You can access, rectify or erase your data, object to or restrict its processing, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time. As play has no sign-up, to delete your leaderboard, league or pool entry, write to info@cornerquiz.com with your nickname; to protect other users, we may ask for reasonable information proving ownership before deleting it. We handle requests within a reasonable time.

EU residents may complain to their data protection authority; in Switzerland, to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC/PFPDT).

We use HTTPS, row-level security (RLS) in the database, and data minimisation: we collect only what's necessary.

We may update this policy. We'll publish the current version on this page with its “Last updated” date; if there are material changes, we'll flag them clearly.
